Intended candidates for the MS degree should present a minimum undergraduate preparation in biological and physical sciences including biology, genetics, microbiology, organic chemistry, physics, and calculus. Deficiencies in some of these areas do not preclude admission. Qualified students with undergraduate majors in fields other than microbiology are welcome.

Plan A Minimum Requirements - 30 credit hours

MICR 699 - Directed Research Credits: V (6 credits)
MICR 690 - Seminar Credits: 1 (1 credit each year)
MICR 695 - Research Literature Review Credits: 1 (1 credit each year)
MICR 614 - Research Ethics Credits: 1
MICR 700 - Thesis Research Credits: V (6 credits)
minimum 12 credit hours of course work at the 600 level or higher (excluding MICR 699 and MICR 700 ); plus
6 credit hours at the 400 level or higher

Note:

2 credit maximum of MICR 690 and MICR 695 may be applied towards the MS Plan A degree.

Plan B Minimum Requirements - 30 credit hours

MICR 699 - Directed Research Credits: V (6 credits)
MICR 690 - Seminar Credits: 1 (1 credit each year)
MICR 695 - Research Literature Review Credits: 1 (1 credit each year)
MICR 614 - Research Ethics Credits: 1
minimum 18 credit hours of course work at the 600 level or higher (excluding MICR 699 ); plus
6 credit hours at the 400 level or higher

Note:
